I am a multimedia storyteller.

My name is Hannah Clark and I am passionate about uplifting the voices of the marginalized and honoring the humanity in people through visual media. I aspire to become a visual journalist who ethically communicates the vast variety of human experiences.

In an increasingly connected and fast-paced world, news has become an ever-refreshing stream of shocking stories. Because the demand for the best and most compelling photograph is so high, photojournalists have ethical choices to make every time they capture an image. As a photojournalist, I can choose to take a brief image of someone without truly taking the time to validate someone's dignity and humanity.

I refuse to give in to this pressure.

I envision a world in which journalists are always asking how they can minimize harm to those they profile. I see journalists as true partners and advocates within a community, representing the people around them well. I see journalists taking the time to uplift the voices of people from marginalized communities rather than disparaging them.

I want to help society look in the mirror, constantly pointing out ways in which oppression has taken hold. I want to dignify and humanize people who are often seen as statistics or faceless ideas. I strive to create a more holistic picture of what it means to be human.

With my experiences in news, sports, freelance, and nonprofit photography, I have shown my ability to capture the dignity and full range of emotion in people.
